Fixing to the bit the RearStop discourages the horse raising its head to such a degree that it tries to lift its forelegs to complete the rear.
The RearStop can also be used as a device to prevent very strong horses snatching at the bit or throwing their heads about preventing the rider from establishing a consistent contact.
