Leadability
StopThatHorse primarily developed the Leadability with the racing industry in mind. Its conception arose when horses parading before a race were seen to play up both in the parade ring and prior to loading in the stalls. This was not only dangerous for the handlers, jockeys and public, it seriously undermined the horse’s chances in racing. A stressed horse cannot perform at its peak, and if it refuses to load cannot race at all.
Based on the Lungeability currently being marketed by StopThatHorse.com, the Leadability is a simple device which fixes to the horses bridle via the bit rings allowing a separate lead ring for attachment of the lead rope. Tension exerted on the lead line places distinct pressure on the horse’s poll and corners of the mouth. The pressure immediately disappears once the lead rope is slackened. A horse quickly learns to respect the handler.
Once a horse has paraded the lead rope is simply unclipped to allow the horse to canter to the start. The stall handlers can then easily re-attach their loading ropes to the lead ring to load the horse.
The Leadability is an effective addition to any professional horse trainer’s yard.
